| Both Passover and Messiah's Resurrection are celebrations of God's deliverance. In Passover, we celebrate God's deliverance for the nation of Israel. After spending years in physical bondage or slavery, God raised up Moses and delivered the people of Israel. In Messiah's Resurrection, we celebrate our deliverance from our slavery to sin.
The Apostle Sha'ul (Paul) said, "We know that the law (Torah) is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin (Romans 7:14)." And Yeshua (Jesus) Himself said, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin (John 8:34)." Unfortunately, everyone of us sin, and therefore, according to Yeshua, we are all slaves to sin. But God has provided deliverance for us. Yeshua came to set us free from sin, and all the consequences of sin (separation from our heavenly Father, sickness, ...). Yeshua declared, ... if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36)." God provided deliverance for Israel, and God provided deliverance for all of us, from our slavery to sin. But just because God provided deliverance it doesn't mean we are all free. God raised up Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt and their slavery. He told the people of Israel to kill a spotless lamb and apply it's blood to the doorposts of their homes. God then sent the angel of death to destroy the firstborn sons of man and livestock. God promised the people of Israel when He saw the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their home He would pass over, and no death or destruction would come to anyone in their home. The people who obeyed God, and did as He commanded, were protected and experienced God's deliverance. The word apply means to make practical use of. Just because some people sacrificed a lamb, and applied it's blood to the doorposts of their home, it didn't mean everyone was delivered. Only those who made use of the blood of the lamb by applying it on the doorposts of their home were delivered from death and destruction. In fulfillment of the promises of God found throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, Yeshua died for the sins of the world. As John declared, Yeshua is "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)!" But just like the Passover lamb, every person must apply the blood, make practical use of it, in order for it to do them any good. Consider the following Scriptures: "That if you confess with your mouth, "Yeshua is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved (Romans 10:9)." "And this is the testimony (evidence or proof): God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.(1 John 5:11-12)." This is the season of deliverance. God has offered all of us deliverance from our sins and the consequences of our sins. Deliverance has been offered, but have you accepted it, and made practical use of it (Messiah Yeshua)? If you have not, delay no longer. You don't need to remain a slave to sin, sickness or anything else. "... If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36)." |
