Rescue Mission

Recently a few of our clients have gone to the Broome County Jail. I need to plan some time for visits so I can encourage them while they’re in jail. We’re beginning to set aside regular times for Team Meetings every week. We’re also gathering letters of support from local agencies and churches. These letters are needed as we put together a grant to purchase a building, and as we meet with different departments in City Hall.

The Rescue Mission is committed to
leadership development. They mean it when they say this. The Rescue Mission sent 16 people to Chicago for a Leadership Summit, and paid for 60+ more people to participate in it via a live Satellite. I was greatly blessed to be part of this Conference. They brought in leaders from several different arenas. They interviewed the former CEO of Hewlett Packard (HP), President Jimmy Carter, and Colin Powell. They also interviewed Richard Curtis a film maker who is greatly burdened for people experiencing severe poverty. They taught us some helpful things about leading people, but they also stressed we need to lead people outside the four walls of our Temples/Churches so we can serve those who are hurting. These meetings were very powerful. It’s been a long time since I cried so much. It was also nice to spend time with my co-workers from Syracuse, NY.

Goldberg Family

Ravi, Caleb and Asha all had a great time at camp. After camp they went to visit their cousins for two days. When they finally got home, they slept a lot the next two days. Reva and Gita had lots of quality time with mom. Their love tanks were filled so much they allowed Vinu to have some good quiet time. At the Berkshire Mountains we had lots of fun. We did some swimming, hiking and wall climbing. I (Ron) don’t like heights, but I went up about 1/4 of the way just to show the kids I could physically do it without hurting myself. Vinu shocked us all and climbed to the top! Vinu enjoyed our 1.8 mile hike, but was disappointed that we would not go on an 8 mile hike.

At Toastmasters I (Ron) completed two speaking manuals this past year. I achieved an award for doing this. I recently received the following email.

" ... please pass on my congratulations on achieving his (Ron’s) Advanced Communicator Bronze award.
He also has the distinction of   being the first one in the Southern Division to achieve any award this Toastmasters year."
Well done, Ron! (Warren Musselman, ATM-G, CL, Southern Division Governor, District 65 - Toastmasters International)

In July we spent a weekend in Albany with Vinu’s family. It was her dad’s 75th birthday and her parents 50th wedding anniversary. They invited many relatives so it could also be a family reunion. At this celebration they honored Vinu’s dad. He was the first one to come to America from India. He worked hard, saved his money, and one by one brought many of his relatives from India to America. At the dinner on Saturday, many people came forward to thank Mr. Singh.

Ravi’s Roundup

I regret that last month I was not able to write the roundup; because I was in Camp. This month I was at a different camp; the
Kopernik Science Camp. At this camp I made friends with two Jewish kids. Elise said that her parents know of my dad, so she knew that I’m a Messianic Jew. Despite this, she still has been my friend. Elise is an Orthodox Jew. I also became friends with Ben, who is a secular Jew. Please Pray that the Lord gives me more chances to witness to them. For the first time, Mashiach Yisrael had a booth at the "Garlic Ethnic Festival," sponsored by the American Civic Association. It was a great time. My dad and I were able to speak to lots of different people about Messianic Judaism. As I mentioned a couple months ago, I am going to join Fine Arts to begin refining my preaching skills. This will begin soon.

Shabbat Services

Ray, who plays the conga at our services, went with me to a local Music Store. We purchased some new music equipment. I really enjoy the sound the new conga makes. We also got a few simple percussion instruments for congregants to use. I want to give everyone who attends an opportunity to worship as actively as possible. People can now worship, by singing, playing a percussion instrument, waving flags, and by Davidic Dance.

This summer I received an email from
Devorah. She has been searching for a Messianic Congregation. She found out about us on the internet. So far she has enjoyed worshiping at our services. Please pray that she continues to get involved.

Thanks

God is faithful to supply our needs through friends like yourself.
Please pray that God would continue to provide at least $1,800 every month. Your prayers and/or missions support have allowed us to do outreach at local festivals. In my next newsletter I will share stories from our two outreaches. Thanks.
