| Rescue Mission
God is blessing us with more and more clothing. This past week we filled several tables with clothing at a Community Dinner at First Presbyterian. This is the second time we’ve given away clothes in less than one month. We will give away clothes regularly from now on. What a joy it is to meet the needs of people! During the Fall Semester, two college students joined me every week to give away food. Two other groups of students volunteered at our Thrifty Shopper (Store). I recently met with two leaders from BU. They shared how they received great reports from the students. We gave them plenty of work to do so now the BU staff is looking for us to find more opportunities for students to work with us. Bill Bill has been working at the Rescue Mission since the last week of May. Bill really knows the services that are available in Binghamton, and has a great heart to help people. He has also become a good friend, as we have spent a lot of time together since then. He does a great job at meeting the needs of our clients, but at the beginning he didn’t express much interest in spiritual matters. But that has been changing during the last few months. When we started a weekly Bible Study, Bill joined it. About two months ago he was meeting with a client to check on his progress. Then Bill asked him where he stood with God. I couldn’t believe my ears. A few weeks ago, Wayne asked me about the services I am leading on Sunday mornings now. After I answered Wayne, Bill shared that he wanted to go to church and asked if I could bring him to services. Bill has been to services the last few weeks, and also brought his grand daughter last week (who has become friends with my kids). Please pray for Bill’s continued spiritual growth. Mr. J About ten years ago, a friend of Vinu’s from college introduced us to Mr. J, her Jewish boy friend. At that time, he was a little curious about what we were doing, but he did not have any interest in spiritual matters. A few months ago I reconnected with him, and things have changed. He now has an interest in spiritual matters. Someone gave him a Bible and a Christian book to read. He has been asking me questions about the Bible, the book, the return of Jesus, and a few other things. He wants to meet to talk some more. Please pray that God would continue working in Mr. J’s life, and bring him to the place of embracing Yeshua as Messiah and Lord. www.jewishjesus.org I just received an email from our webmaster informing me how many people checked out our website last week. I had no clue how many people did visit our website, and was pleasantly surprised by the #’s. Here they are:
New Years Eve On New Years Eve we met with 13 other people. We watched "Facing the Giants." What a great movie it is! If you have not yet seen it, I encourage you to do so. A few days before New Year’s Eve we put this together with a few friends who had no plans. We decided to go door to door inviting people to the get together even though it was last minute. It was a great opportunity to meet some of the people who live on the street where we worship. This Spring we plan on going door to door again inviting people to attend our worship services. Megan who attends Living Hope never did anything like this before but decided to step outside her comfort zone and go door to door with us. We are so proud of Megan for doing this. Goldberg Family This month we’ll be busy celebrating the birthdays of Caleb, Gita and Reva. Caleb will take a few friends to Chuck E Cheese, and then they’ll come home for a movie. Gita and Reva are talking about having 49 people over for a sleep over party. They will have a party with some friends, but it won’t be a sleep over, and they won’t have 49 friends either. Ravi has a swimming competition this month. He also was promoted at Civil Air Patrol, and received an award for community service. Asha is happy that Ballet classes have resumed after the holidays. She did not like having the time off from ballet. Vinu is busy preparing to speak at the Women’s Aglow Meeting. Of course, she only gets to prepare for it after schooling five children, and preparing lots of meals for our family. I (Ron) have made some progress on playing the piano. I recently was able to play some songs I never could in the past. I enjoy playing the piano, and especially enjoy praising God while I play. Thanks I am so thankful to God that He supplies our needs through friends like yourself. Please pray that God would continue to provide at least $1,800 every month. Your prayers and/or missions support enable us to reach out in different ways. Thanks. Ron, Vinu, Ravi, Caleb, Asha, Gita & Reva Goldberg |
