| Franklin Graham Festival (June 8-10) The time has finally come for the festival! A friend on staff with the BGEA recently asked me if I feel like a proud papa ready to see our children being birthed. A few years ago Pastor Brown Naik took Vinu and myself with him to a Billy Graham School of Evangelism. It was there that God set up a divine appointment for me to meet Bob McDermott from the BGEA. Bob informed me that Franklin Graham has wanted to come to Binghamton so had me fill out a request. I could not believe that Franklin ever heard of Binghamton, but there was no doubt that I would fill out the request. I am amazed to see what God has done since that time. Since that day more churches are working together in our community than ever before. We have already collected 12,000 non-perishable food items. And we will collect more at the Festival. Our attendance at most events has been incredible. We have had to rent the Arena in Downtown Binghamton to accommodate over flow crowds. Local Christian bikers are planning a ride to the festival and are aggressively inviting their biker friends. I can’t wait for the festival, but those three days are only a part of what God is doing. Please pray for a big harvest to come forth! Door to Door The Franklin Graham Festival staff has asked us all to go door-to-door inviting people to attend the Festival. On June 2, we joined together with Good Shepherd to go door-to-door in our neighborhood. Throughout the week before the Festival, our family is going door-to-door again. When we went out with Good Shepherd we included invitations to Good Shepherd with the Festival invitations. And when we went out by our home, we included invitations to Mashiach Yisrael in our packets. A BGEA staff worker told us we could invite people to our congregations while we did this. The BGEA is committed to seeing people join local congregations so people can grow in their faith. They do a lot of things to help build local congregations. Please pray that God will use this to bring people to the Festival, and both our congregations. It’s so nice to work together with Good Shepherd as we seek to build God’s Kingdom together. Also, would you please pray that we continue going door-to-door after the festival ends? Rescue Mission A few days ago our Executive Director and Supervisor met with our lawyer to write up a purchase offer for a building. We found a building that has lots of space and will help us meet the needs of our homeless neighbors. There’s still more logistics that need to be worked out so please pray for this. We really desire to have a building so we can begin housing people before winter comes. It seems like a long way off, but we must begin now if we want to house people by then. Our ministry believes that all people deserve a nice place to live, so any building we get will be completely remodeled. God has a given us JT, a student from Davis College to intern with us this summer (full time). He also has given us Ronna and Bill to volunteer; each for half a day. These three people are gifted, have the right heart for our ministry, and are making a big difference. With their help, we are beginning to expand our services. On June 4 we served three people who are homeless, and received phone calls from three more people who are also homeless. The need is great so please pray for God to send us the finances and manpower that we need. Goldberg Family We just returned from a wonderful week in Hawaii. God is so great for taking our family there. We got to join Mika, our adopted daughter, for her wedding. I (Ron) walked her down the aisle and Asha enjoyed being the flower girl. We met Mika’s family and friends; about 20 people came with her from Japan. The day after the wedding we went snorkeling with Mika and her family. Snorkeling with the fishes is the best! I plan on calling AAA to find out if there is anywhere I can drive too so we can do this again. If you ever get a chance to snorkel, you must do it. Reva and Gita really enjoyed the Hula dancing and fire man (a man who "danced" with a stick of fire). Vinu lived in Hawaii while she was in 6th grade. During that year her teacher used to give them Li Hing Mui seeds to eat. Vinu has been looking for them ever since then. On our last day in Hawaii we found a store that sells them. It took 31 years, but God gave Vinu this desire of her heart as well. When it was time to leave I asked a hotel worker to get a taxi to take us to the airport. At first he was going to send 2 taxis for us. I shared that I did not want to pay for two taxis so asked him to find a company that would have one vehicle that was big enough for all of us. You should have seen the smiles on our kids when a white limousine came to get us. Ravi’s Round Up! Not much stray cattle to round up this month. I had a great time going door-to-door inviting people to the Franklin Graham Festival. This year Caleb, Asha, and I will be going to "Camp Gilgal," the Jews for Jesus summer camp. After applying for a scholarship, we did not know if it was going to be accepted for about a month. Yet God was good; on June 4 we received a confirmation. This will be our first over-night camp. I can not wait. There will be archery, boating, Hebrew classes, and so many things I have always wanted to do. Thanks God is faithful to supply our needs through friends like yourself. Please pray that God would continue to provide at least $1,800 every month so that we can continue to reach out in our community. Your prayers and/or missions support allow us to reach out in different ways. Thanks. Ron, Vinu, Ravi, Caleb, Asha, Gita & Reva Goldberg |
