A Phone Conversation with an Orthodox Jew

Last Sunday morning a 22 year old Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn, NY called me on the phone. He found my name on the internet and called to talk about faith in Yeshua. The phone connection was not perfect and since he spoke so fast, and had a typical New York accent, I had a hard time understanding him. Therefore, I could not catch his name. But we talked for 1 hour. He shared that he has been reading the New Covenant Scriptures and is now convinced that Yeshua is the Messiah. He believes the Scriptures make this clear. He has been raised to faithfully read the Scriptures and go to Synagogue, but he has felt there must be more. After reading the Scriptures, he knows God has more for him, and that this includes Yeshua.

He desires to pursue all that God has for him, and wants to live for Yeshua. But he also knows how his family will respond to this. I shared different things with him, and strongly encouraged him to contact some friends in Brooklyn. It is so important for him to connect with other Messianic Jews, especially those who have come to faith after being raised as Orthodox Jews. Right now it will probably be impossible for him to travel to a Messianic Congregation on the Shabbat so
please pray that he will connect with other Messianic Jews during the week, and for wisdom in telling his family.
Sukkot (Feast of Booths) Celebration

On October 7 we celebrated Sukkot in our backyard. We built a Sukkah (booth), had a Shabbat (Worship) Service, and enjoyed a dish-to-pass meal. We had our biggest crowd since starting services this summer. We had a few Jewish visitors attend. Two of them were
Beth and Laurie, a mother and daughter. Two years ago Vinu saw their name on their mail box and began praying for them. Finally, this summer she met them during a morning walk. Since then, she has been developing a relationship with them, and their extended family. What a joy it was to see them at our Sukkot celebration. Please pray that God will continue to move in their lives and bring them to faith in Yeshua.

Ethnic Festival Outreach

We had a wonderful time at the
Ethnic Festival. All throughout the day people stopped by our Booth. Several inter-faith couples came by to talk with us. Jeanne came by to talk with us since she is married to a Christian and was raised as an Orthodox Jew. Several years ago she visited one of our services. She is still trying to sort through things. She has some openness to Yeshua, but since she was told she could not be Jewish and believe in Yeshua she has been hesitant to embrace Him. Please pray that she will meet with me, and that God will break through this fear and the lie the enemy has told her.

Rescue Mission

It’s time for
Kevin to begin sharing his testimony with other people so we’re now helping him to write it out. Two weeks ago I met two people at the Broome-Tioga Workforce to help them find jobs. Just this past week both of them were hired. While at the Workforce, one of the people I met there saw a young lady (Sara) who was overwhelmed and in tears. I found out that Sara was homeless, and that she was having trouble getting help from DSS (Dept. of Social Services). I could not go to DSS with Sara at that moment, so I told her to tell her Caseworker that she had talked with me. I also told her exactly what to tell her Caseworker. Later that day I saw her Caseworker and found out that Sara received Emergency Shelter.

Every Thursday I am outside the Salvation Army in Downtown Binghamton from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. I greet people with several different items. First, I have lunch bags with a sandwich, desert, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. This is supplied by
Glenn Castle UMC. I also have clothing and toiletries to give out. Just this past week Immaculate Conception Catholic Church had a (winter) jacket and blanket drive. They brought us numerous bags filled with both items. What a difference these items are making as the nights are getting cold. Please pray for all the people we meet.

Goldberg Family

Caleb did an incredible job as his Tumble-a-thon at Gymnastics. He did 42 cartwheels and set a record for raising the most money. Asha had a wonderful time at her birthday party. She turned 8 years old on November 5. Caleb and Asha are on the same Junior Bible Quiz Team this year. They came in 12th & 14th place respectively in a recent competition. Their team came in 2nd place. Ravi has begun swimming at the Boys & Girls Club. He is also doing great at Bible Quiz again this year. Reva really enjoys watching Barney. Sometimes the older kids don’t let her watch a Barney video. How quickly they forget how much they loved Barney when they were younger. Gita is great at telling stories. She often tells us stories about all her kids and what they are doing. It’s great to see her imagination at work. Vinu just celebrated her birthday. She may be one year older, but she still looks the same as when I married her! I (Ron) had a great time at a Pastors Prayer Summit.

Thanks

God always amazes me with His faithfulness.
Please pray that God would provide $1,800 every month. Thank you very much for how you support us through prayer and/or missions support.
