| Fall Feasts We have had wonderful celebrations for two of the Fall Feasts. During the Feasts of Trumpets we looked ahead to Yeshua?s return at the sound of the shofar. Several people brought their shofars to our celebration. At Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) we looked at the fountain that provides cleansing from sin. First we looked at Leviticus 16 to learn about the scapegoat who had the iniquities of all the people of Israel laid on him. Then we looked at Yeshua, who replaced the scapegoat and had all our iniquities laid on Him (Isaiah 53). Finally, we looked at Zechariah 12-13 which talked about Yeshua?s return and the salvation of Israel. I also shared this message at New Hope Church in Honesdale, PA. New Hope recorded the message and I hope to have copies available soon to give away. On October 18 at 10:30 AM we will celebrate Sukkot (the Feasts of Booths). Please pray for good weather as we desire to hold the service (Praise & Worship and the teaching) and a dish-to-pass meal outside at our sukkah (booth). Rescue Mission News In September we served the most homeless people ever in one month. So far this year we have helped 244 people, with 119 of them being homeless. Bill and Winnie are continuing to do an incredible job advocating for people. We have also picked up a few faithful volunteers. With the extra help we now have I hope to visit the river beds every week to search for new homeless people.. Last week I visited Mr. B who is back in rehab for his drinking problem. I now meet with him weekly for Bible Study. Please pray that God gets a hold of him like never before, and his addiction becomes a thing of his past, instead of a re-occurring battle. During the past two months I have met Mr. J a few times. He just turned 20 years old and has been homeless for much of the past several years. He asks for our help, we set up an appointment to advocate for him, but then he doesn?t show up. Please pray that God works in his life. Ethnic Festival On October 25 Broome County will host an Ethnic Festival at the Broome County Arena. Once again we will be reaching out there. We will have 15 minutes on the stage where we will sing Messianic Jewish music. Several people will join us on stage either doing Davidic Dance or waving flags as they worship the Lord. We will also set up our booth where we will have a display, engage people in conversation, and invite people to services. We?ll bring the Ark of the Covenant, and hang our banner which says, "Have you met the Jewish Jesus?" It is almost identical to the one listed above in the letterhead. This is a real eye catcher and gets peoples? attention. Every time I display this banner, several people come after me to talk. We will also have a 1 ½ foot dreidle. A dreidle is a top that is used in Chanukah celebrations. Since Chanukah will be the next holiday, we will have a dreidle displayed and have invitations to our Chanukah celebration. Worship Team It?s been exciting to see God raise up a worship team. Susan, who?s been attending Sunday services approached me a couple of months ago and told me she used to play the flute and is interested in playing it for worship. God also brought Tim to our Sunday Service last month. Tim plays the guitar and drums. He has agreed to work with Ravi on the drums. In the past, a few people have given Ravi drum lessons. Ravi has started to play a simple beat on the drums at our services. For several months Asha has been standing next to me (while I play the piano) and helps with singing. Tim has also helped get the sound system working better. On Tuesday nights I now have music practice. Jan, who plays the guitar with me at the Saturday Service attends the practice so we can all learn new songs together. Last Tuesday we had 6 people playing instruments, while Caleb ran the sound system. Family Life Network (FLN) Last week I received a phone call from FLN. They have Radio Stations all over our region. October is Pastor Appreciation month and they asked me to join them for part of their Morning Show. I will join John & Denny from 8:00 - 9:00 A.M. on October 16. I will get to share about our ministry and how our two congregations work together. They also said that they usually have people call into the radio station to play "games" with the pastor. I am also hoping they will give me a chance to share about the Rescue Mission. If FLN has a station where you live, please remember to listen on October 16. Please pray that God will have me share what the people listening need to hear. Also, please pray that God would have people listening who He would have join our congregation. Ravi's Round Up My family recently attended a family reunion on my mom?s side. We all enjoyed spending time with our out of state cousins at the reunion. We stayed at some cabins near Albany for a weekend get away. Caleb, Asha, Reva and Gita, are having fun practicing for their soccer games in our new backyard. Last week Caleb and Asha?s team recognized Caleb as the most aggressive player for the first half of their game, and Asha as the 2nd most aggressive player. Asha?s broken wrist has finally healed up and is back to normal. Caleb was taught how to chop firewood by our 75 year old grandfather. He is also enjoying keeping me out of the sound booth and running power point, while I play the drums (at our Services). Mom (Vinu) is having to shop for new furniture (for our living room), since the company we intended to buy it from has declared bankruptcy during these past financially, turbulent weeks. Dad (Ron) was recently healed of back pain while sharing his Yom Kippur message at New Hope Church in Honesdale, PA. Since being promoted to the grade of Cadet Senior Airman, I, Ravi, have been given more leadership roles at Civil Air Patrol. I am also having a good time playing the drums at Shabbat services, Sunday services and the Fall Feasts. Shalom, Ravi Shalom Thank You Thanks for your faithful support of our ministry. Through your prayers and/or generous giving we are able to reach out at the Broome County Ethnic Festival, and start additional meetings on Wednesday evenings. Please pray that God continues to bring in over $1,800/month. Ron, Vinu, Ravi, Caleb, Asha, Gita & Reva |
