We do have choices, and to chose Gods way, or our own is always in our own hands. He had the plan for our redemption our Lord Jesus Christ with him always. He gave us the choice between sin , and Himself so, that when we are redeemed we worship him in gratitude, for who he is. Not because he forced us, but because we know our need, of him, and his willingness to give himself just for us.
